With their image-over-substance approach, the teased glamsters served-up a steady dose of pre-sweetened, light-weight rock n pop weekend party fare, starting with their glammed out debut from 1986, Look What the Cat Dragged In.

Poison rode the formula established on their first LP for all it was worth, as the cheesy ride resulted in international stardom.

I was 15 years old when their debut album was released and whilst they perhaps did not have the coolness of their contemporaries, such as Guns N Roses and Mtley Cre, it was Poison that really caught my imagination with their total sense of fun, colourful videos and a barrage of seriously catchy glam metal songs.

Poison exemplified glossy glammy hard rock in the late 80s like Kiss and the Cre did in the mid-70s and early-80s respectively.

The underrated Flesh Blood remains their most mature and well-rounded album.

They managed to improve with each album but eventually the changing tastes of the masses consigned Poison to a lifetime of nostalgia tours.
